Allie’s Best Card for May 2015

zyman blog post_May2015

This invitation, designed with South Florida event planner Karla Conceptual Event Experiences, celebrated a milestone birthday for Sergio, a/k/a “the most interesting man in the world.”

A simple, typographic card, paired with a black lizard envelope served as a save the date announcement and created a preview for the invitation that followed.

For the main invitation, we stayed with the same colors and fonts, but layered different papers together to add thickness, texture and make it more “interesting.” The invitation was edge painted with metallic silver for an upscale look with a small stripe of shine.

This set was a beautiful way to bring friends together to celebrate someone special.

Allie’s Best Card for April 2015

Royal? Cerulean? Indigo? Cobalt? Regardless of what you want to call them, bright blues are HOT right now for bar and bat mitzvahs. It is also a popular color for girl and boy b’nai mitzvahs. We combined blue with neutrals white and grey for Matthew’s bar mitzvah invitation suite above.

The main invitation is printed on blue acrylic with an all-over coating of smoke grey ink, leaving the name clear to let the custom liner shine through as it emerges from the envelope. The custom liner is a pattern of logos, text and icons that represent Matthew’s favorite sports, cities and interests.

We  mixed different materials and printing methods throughout set, but kept it cohesive with color and typography. We had the privilege of working on this set with retailer  Precious Papers in West Harrison, New York.

Allie’s Best Card for March 2015

This week we are sharing a Bat Mitzvah invitation designed with typography and texture in mind. This oversized invitation included ceremony, party, reply and direction details, so there was a lot of text! The blend of sans-fonts in varying scale were divided into different sections to keep it organized and easy-to-read. We kept the layout modern to let the texture of the gloss white ink pressed into brushed aluminum paper shine through.

For added details, we backed the piece in pink silk paper and created a matching address labels for the white 5″ x 13″ envelope.

This modern Bat Mitzvah invitation suite was designed with retailer E.A.F Fine Papers in New York City.

Allie’s Best Card for October 2014

October’s ABC just screams MYSTERY! Beaux Arts Miami asked us to create an invitation for the 62nd Annual Beaux Arts Ball, the longest running costume ball in Miami, Florida. The ball, benefiting the Lowe Art Museum at the University of Miami, was themed Midnight in the Garden of Good & Evil.

They asked us to design an invitation that was a little bit edgy, but upscale enough for the event, which has a seated dinner, auction, dancing and requests black tie attire (for those not attending in costume).

The invitation was printed on flexible plastic on both sides to create a contrast in texture. Distressed typography matched the rustic look of the leaf and vine details at the top and bottom. The set is complete with an RSVP set and sponsorship inserts printed on a gold shimmer paper. Boo!

Allie’s Best Card for September 2014

Planning a tropical get-a-way wedding? How about this modern, wedding invitation celebrating John & Chad’s destination wedding? It was ordered through Signed and Sealed by Steph in Denver, Colorado.

We printed a custom monogram, tropical palms and clean typography in white and green ink on acrylic. The palms were carried through the set with different graphic treatments to be consistent without being too repetitive. To complete the set, we paired the modern themed invite with a rich, brown envelope with coordinating silky lime green liner.

Aloha!

Allie’s Best Card for August 2014

This invitation makes us want to run away and join the circus! We designed this set with one of our local retailers, Paperazzi in Weston, Florida.

This whimsical invitation was printed on white flexible plastic, and designed by combining traditional and decorative fonts to set the mood of the party while maintaining an upscale feel. A bright red envelope, paired with a sparkly gold glitter liner and gold wrap label, makes a great first impression.

Allie’s Best Card for July 2014

This dreamy Bat Mitzvah invitation suite was designed with retailer Proper Notice in East Hills, New York.

We wanted to mix formality with youthful fun, so the main invitation has metallic gold ink printed on hot pink, translucent acrylic.  Coordinating insert cards, thank you notes and envelopes were created in the reverse color way of magenta foil on pale gold, shimmer paper. The swirly thick script combined with a thin, modern body text creates a striking contrast in style and scale.

Thank you to Amanda and her family and of course, Proper Notice for choosing us to create this set for your big day.
