Allie’s Best Card for March 2015

This week we are sharing a Bat Mitzvah invitation designed with typography and texture in mind. This oversized invitation included ceremony, party, reply and direction details, so there was a lot of text! The blend of sans-fonts in varying scale were divided into different sections to keep it organized and easy-to-read. We kept the layout modern to let the texture of the gloss white ink pressed into brushed aluminum paper shine through.

For added details, we backed the piece in pink silk paper and created a matching address labels for the white 5″ x 13″ envelope.

This modern Bat Mitzvah invitation suite was designed with retailer E.A.F Fine Papers in New York City.

Allie’s Best Card for November 2013

Blacker and Kooby in New York City asked us to collaborate with Real Card Studio on this corporate invite for the Deerfield holiday party. Real Card Studio designed the front tone on tone letterpress card and we worked on the acrylic backing with the silver leaf texture and assembled them. This invite is the perfect representation of the holidays and winter time.

We have admired the work of Real Card Studio for years, so it was inspiring to work with Heather van Breda to create something unique together. Designing holiday cards and invitations always gets us in the holiday spirit.

Happy Holidays!

OCt. 2013 beaux-arts-ball

Happy Halloween! This month’s ABC just screams FUN! Beaux Arts Miami asked us to create an invitation for the 61st Annual Beaux Arts Ball, the longest running costume ball in Miami, Florida. The 2013 ball was themed Wig + Stache Bash, which opened up a world of costume possibilities.

They asked us to design an invitation that was a little bit edgy, but upscale enough to match the event, which has a seated dinner, auction, dancing and requests black tie attire (for those not attending in costume). The graffiti-inspired set is complete with a custom stamp, RSVP set and sponsorship insert.  We layered the invite with 3 papers to give it extra thickness and create a contrasting navy blue back.  All insert cards tucked neatly into a sleek back pocket.  We worked with a local graffiti artist to create the logo – note the tiny white mustache on the A!

Allie’s Best Card for September 2013

2Our September ABC is all about the details! Ralph’s Bar Mitzvah invitation includes an unusual, ostrich-embossed vinyl envelope lined in a silky deep blue paper with a matching engraved ceremony  invitation. The Shabbat dinner card was simple and sophisticated with a reversed design of blue ink letterpress printed on white cotton paper.

Mixing materials into a cohesive set is a signature Allie Munroe design trait. The set is complimented by a party card in flexible plastic with a subtle frosted pattern of Ralph’s name layered covering the back.  The set is complete with a custom wrap around label with hand written calligraphy for each guest’s name.

Notice that the text is in Spanish? We are located in Miami, Florida, where Spanish often feels like the first language. We have staff that speak Spanish and Portuguese, so we are very comfortable working with our South and Central American clients.

Allie’s Best Card for August 2013

Gold has made a big comeback!  Our August ABC demonstrates the sophistication and simplicity of gold and black. We are featuring two similar invitations; the first is Dianna & Walter’s wedding invitation that was ordered through Uptowne Papers in Portland, Oregon. The engaged couple chose this square, black acrylic invitation with an metallic gold ink for their formal Saturday night wedding. The invitation arrived in an antique gold, shimmering envelope to match the text.

Amanda’s Bat Mitzvah set was ordered from Proper Notice in Roslyn Heights, New York. She chose the same materials and colors, but in our oversized, tall size. We added a big monogram at the top and added 2 oversized gold crystals for some youthful bling! Count on large, acrylic invitations to make an impact upon arrival.

Downright smashing! Luke’s parents requested an invitation that expressed the seriousness of a Bar Mitzvah as well the fun to follow at his tennis-themed reception. They said make sure it is sporty but “not too tennis-y.”  We think we achieved this balance with a grey and white set with touches of  bright yellow. One of our favorite details is the custom designed ‘Luke’ icon.

This month’s ABC was ordered through invitation studio Paper Treats in Miami, Florida.  Party at the net!

Allie’s Best Card for June 2013

Anchor blog postHappy Summer! Here at Allie Munroe, we can go to beach year-round, but in other places, not so much, making beach parties extra special. This month, we’re featuring an over the top save-the-date card for Victor’s 40th birthday.  We worked on this with retailer The Write Invite in Dallas, Texas.

This invite is printed on frosted acrylic with ocean blue ink. The design is clean and simple using a larger type to highlight the important details. We added the anchor emphasizing the big 4-0, and finished it off with a crisp, white envelope with matching typography.  Touches of red can be added for a more patriotic or nautical feel. Or, use a craft paper envelope for an earthy, natural first impression.

Remember the sunscreen!

ABC steph-spencer

This month’s ABC is an invitation that celebrates Stephanie & Spencer’s tropical garden wedding. We worked with event planner Lasso the Moon in Miami, Florida  and created a subtle peacock graphic (inspired by the entrance of the venue) to print on each piece of the set. All pieces were letterpress printed on thick board; we added a die cut and a custom patterned liner to make it unique to this wedding.  A modern RSVP postcard completes the set.

Allie’s Best Card for April 2013

Spring showers bring April flowers! This month we are featuring Andreina and Christopher’s wedding suite featuring a laser cut lotus flower, ordered through Karla Conceptual Events, one of our favorite event planners. The flower is carried through the set with different graphic treatments to be consistent without too repetitive.  From the blind oversized lotus flower on the RSVP card to the custom stamp that completes the set, this is a modern take on a traditional floral wedding invitation.  Deep purple hand calligraphy on a thick 6 x 9 box like mailer made sure it arrived in mail in perfect condition.
