Needle in a Haystack

In the heart of Dallas, Texas you will find Needle In A Haystack, a proud mom and pop stationery business with not just two generations working together, but three! Owners Yash and  Bavna Parmar, their daughter Krishna and Yash’s 83-year-old father, Bapuji work together in the store.  They are assisted by Blair, Meera, Tammy, Harva, Paige, Alicia, Sarah, Julia, Kathe, Paula and Rachel who help make all the magic happen at Needle.

Bhavna is the creative mind behind the business. Yash, who is a CPA, has the business side covered, but he also loves working with his customers–the ladies love him!  They have owned the store for 23 years; it was a needlepoint store before they bought it in 1989, hence the name. Krishna was brought up with the store; by the age of 7, she was calling customers to tell them their invitations were ready!  After graduating from SMU in 2009, she joined the business full-time. In addition to  bringing new, younger products into the store, Krishna has been busy revamping the website, setting up Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and email campaigns.

Needle (as we have nick-named them at Allie Munroe) still has an old-fashioned cash register (the one that makes a “cha-ching” noise when it opens) that will be 100 years old in 2015.  It is Bapuji’s job to make sure the cash register balances out at the end of the day.

The reason for the continued success of Needle In A Haystack is they all love working with customers and helping them make their important events even more special. They were one of Allie Munroe’s very first retailers and we are thrilled to still be working with them.

San Francisco Party inspiration

Planning a party in San Francisco? Check out this inspiration board, which starts with an Allie Munroe plastic invitation we created with Paper Caper in Burlingame, California and includes ideas to create an evening that will be the talk of the town.  Prefer the East Coast?  Other skylines are available.
